Upcoming NCPA Items for Pharmacy Teams

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (Aug. 1, 2023) – The National Community Pharmacists Association is pleased to announce these upcoming events for pharmacists and pharmacy team members:  

  • Aug. 16 – Driving Patient Care and Profitability: Unleashing the Power of Data-Driven Decision Making, part of our Rapid Relief Revenue Learning Hour initiative. Clark Bishop, pharmacist and director of clinical and retail services at TotalDose Pharmacies, will share ways to leverage information pharmacies can already access to make informed business decisions that optimize patient care and support financial success.   • Aug. 23 – Mental Health First Aid training, with NCPA’s Hannah Fish. Pharmacy team members are more likely to encounter a mental health episode than a situation requiring basic life support or CPR. This live, online training course will help attendees identify, understand, and respond to people in need of this assistance. Learn more and register.
  • Aug. 29 – Maximizing Part D Enrollment and Understanding How Current Medicare Reform Legislation May Affect It, advocacy update webinar. With the DIR hangover setting in on Jan. 1, 2024, it’s vital that pharmacies maximize the Medicare Open Enrollment Period this fall. Dared and Renee Price, both PharmDs and co-owners of Price Pharmacies, will share tips for doing so, and NCPA staff will break down considerations from the latest Medicare Part D reform legislation.   • Ongoing:
    • Encouraging community pharmacy teams to invite their federal representatives for a pharmacy visit during the August in-district work period. PBM reform is within reach. This important month of action will push for progress and keep community pharmacy on the minds of members of Congress. Learn more and sign up to participate.
    • Registration is open for the Pre-Convention Growth and Profitability Programs being held in Orlando ahead of the NCPA 2023 Annual Convention. Programming includes long-term care, pharmacy ownership, point-of-care test and treat, and a new course to help attendees revamp their pharmacies from the inside out. Learn more and register.
    • Registration is open for the NCPA 2023 Annual Convention and Expo. The convention will be held Oct. 14-17 in Orlando. Learn more and register.

Additionally, NCPA is partnering with the Avant Pharmacy and Wellness team to launch Implementing Pharmacogenomics, a five-hour, on-demand course detailing what independent pharmacy teams need to offer this cash-based service to their patients. Those who register by Aug. 6 will also be able to join an extra live, two-hour session on Aug. 7. Learn more and register.
