Mental Health

According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, millions of people in the U.S. are affected by mental illness each year, with one in five adults experiencing mental illness annually. With the prevalence of mental health disorders increasing among patients and the rate of pharmacist burnout rising in tandem, the need for mental health resources continues to grow.

Thank you to the Cardinal Health Foundation for supporting initiatives that raise awareness of mental health topics among pharmacists, pharmacy teams, and the patients they serve.

Mental Health First Aid

Pharmacists and pharmacy team members are more likely to need to respond to a mental health episode than to a situation requiring basic life support or CPR. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training, therefore, could be considered more important than CPR training. MHFA teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults.

Our next opportunity to receive MHFA training is June 11. Registration for these sessions is now $50 off, thanks to the support of the Cardinal Health Foundation.

Stigma, along with societal myths, often discourage individuals from pursuing necessary care, leading many to forgo professional help. Additionally, many health care professionals lack the training required to effectively engage with individuals experiencing mental health challenges, which can result in minimizing or avoiding interactions. This webinar aims to enhance the comfort and confidence of health care providers when interacting with individuals affected by mental illness.
