Congressman Kevin Hern (R-Okla.), who is running for the Senate, stopped by Broken Arrow Family Drug in Broken Arrow, Okla., to meet with owners Todd and Andi Pendergraft, and Oklahoma Deputy Attorney General Micheal Leake, who heads the PBM Enforcement Unit of the Office of the Attorney General. Attendees discussed the need for more transparency in Tricare and other federal programs. Hern was also educated on how PBMs claim federal preemption when states try to enforce reimbursement appeal or audit laws, as well as low dispensing fees for Medicare transactions.
NCPA staff provided talking points and helped prepare the attendees for the meeting. These meetings really do make a difference in the decisions that members of Congress make while in D.C. — don’t miss your opportunity to meet with your legislator in person when they are back in the district until after the election!
