Last night, the White House unveiled TrumpRx.gov, a website acting as a portal to direct patients to the lowest prices for specific drugs. For some drugs, it provides coupons and directs patients to bring those coupons to pharmacies (sometimes to specific pharmacies, and sometimes all retail pharmacies that provide the drug in question.) NCPA was able to identify a total of 43 drugs listed on the website. Notably, under its Frequently Asked Questions section, the TrumpRx website addresses prescribers and pharmacies specifically — using questions that NCPA directly provided the administration in earlier talks about the program.
For example, certain drugs link directly to manufacturer programs, such as AstraZeneca Direct or LillyDirect. The EMD Serono drugs are only available via mail order at certain pharmacies. However, many of the drugs allow for a coupon to be printed and presented at a local pharmacy. Most of these coupons utilize the same BIN/PCN/Group and Member ID and independent pharmacies should be able to process these coupons.
NCPA leadership has met with the White House in recent months to emphasize the need to protect the patient/pharmacist relationship and include pharmacies in the program's implementation — and it's clear the administration took our points into account. We'll continue to engage with the administration to better understand the program and report any new details as we get them.
