A group of pharmacy associations, including NCPA, released a public-facing statement to reassure patients and clarify any public misunderstandings around current vaccine recommendations, also encouraging patients to get vaccinated during this particularly severe flu season. The statement from the Pharmacy-Based Vaccine Access Work Group reminds patients that pharmacists are trained using the latest scientific information to provide vaccines in their role as accessible, reliable health care providers and touts their role providing most COVID-19, flu, and RSV vaccines.
The Pharmacy-Based Vaccine Access Work Group is comprised of 14 pharmacy organizations operating across different practice settings and advocates for improving access to essential vaccinations for all Americans and providing guidance for structuring payment for pharmacist-provided services. Last October, it issued a set of guiding principles for state policy on pharmacy-personnel-administered vaccines.
