DSME is a sustainable revenue stream – free of PBM influence

NCPA January 28, 2026

Want to go even deeper on diabetes patient care? Diabetes self-management education is a billable, evidence-based service that allows pharmacists to improve quality of life for their patients while expanding their businesses. One-on-one DSME pays $120 per hour, and group education pays $28 per hour, per person, for up to 20 people. That's a potential total of $560 per hour, all staying in your business, not the PBMs' pockets. Our Diabetes Accreditation Boot Camp, led by DSME expert Travis Wolff, PharmD, is an easy way to prepare yourself for accreditation quickly. Our next cohort will kick off Feb. 25.

The program includes six one-hour meetings to review documentation required for accreditation and walk enrollees through how to bill Medicare for DSME. Enrollees also receive access to on-demand consultations, recorded class meetings, customizable operations manuals, and four weeks of additional, complimentary support after the six-week course ends.
