On this day in 1962, comedy great Steve Carell was born in Concord, Mass. The future star of classic sitcom “The Office” and critically acclaimed films like “The Big Short” started his comedy career in 1991 when he joined the Second City improv troupe in Chicago, eventually landing a role on “The Dana Carvey Show” and later as a correspondent on “The Daily Show.”

After his role as the dimwitted Brick in 2004’s blockbuster comedy “Anchorman,” Carell’s popularity skyrocketed when he played Michael Scott, a mercurial manager at a paper company, in 2006’s “The Office,” which ran for nine seasons (watch one of his funnier scenes here.)
