Pathways to Pharmacy Ownership

Pathways to pharmacy ownershipPathways

NCPA was proud to participate in and support the Minority Pharmacist Entrepreneur Conference held virtually, Sept. 17-18. At the conference, NCPA and MPECrx announced the launch of Pathways to Pharmacy Ownership, a new initiative between the two organizations that encourages and supports independent pharmacy ownership among minority pharmacists.

Pathways is a year-long, application-based program where selected pharmacists will gain access to pharmacy owner-mentors, a series of webinars focused on essential business principles, scholarships to NCPA’s Ownership Workshop, and more.

Ownership Fundamentals Webinar Series

Understanding that there is quite a bit of preparatory work one must do before opening or buying a pharmacy, NCPA will host a series of webinars on the fundamentals of pharmacy ownership. These webinars will be available to those selected to participate in the Pathways Program and will be open to other MPEC and NCPA members as applicable.

Webinar topics to include, but are not limited to:

  • Personal Finance for the Entrepreneur
  • Opening a Pharmacy Timeline
  • Buying an Existing Pharmacy Timeline
  • How to Write a Business Plan
  • Loan Options
  • Best Practices – Owner Panel

NCPA Pharmacy Ownership Workshop

Pathways pharmacists will be awarded scholarships to attend an upcoming Workshop. More information can be found on the Ownership Workshop page. Travel expenses and lodging will be the responsibility of the pharmacist.

Business Plan Review

Pathways pharmacists will have the opportunity to have their business plans reviewed by industry experts before submitting to their financial institutions for consideration.

If selected, Pathways participants must be NCPA members in good standing or become NCPA members prior to Program launch in January 2022.

Please email shantel.houston@ncpa.org if you have any questions or are interested in becoming a Pathways mentor.
