The 2026 NCPA Digest, sponsored by Cardinal Health, was released yesterday at the Annual Convention. Through many measures, it demonstrated the essential contributions of independent community pharmacies to American health care through the services they provide and community contributions.
Here are a few highlights from the 2025 data detailed in this year’s Digest:
- Independent community pharmacies comprise nearly 37 percent of all retail pharmacies in the United States.
- Ninety-one percent of respondents provided flu immunizations, and most offer at least one other vaccine.
- Sixty-two percent performed blood pressure monitoring; 55 percent offered services for LTC patients; and 48 percent offered compounding.
- Sixty-six percent of independent community pharmacy owners donated to at least five local organizations.
