Former NCPA executive resident receives statewide award

NCPA October 1, 2026

Congratulations to Ben Ostebee for receiving the Distinguished Young Pharmacist of the Year award from the South Dakota Pharmacists Association! Now a staff pharmacist at Lewis Drug, Ostebee was an NCPA executive resident from 2022 to 2023. In that time, he sharpened his pharmacy advocacy, education, and community pharmacy practice knowledge. He is also currently the SDPhA Sioux Falls district president and the legislative liaison of the South Dakota Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

His success shows how the NCPA executive residency can help contribute to the professional success of talented future pharmacy leaders. Residents serve 13-month terms beginning June 1 and ending June 30 the following year in Old Town Alexandria, Va., just outside the nation’s capital. This non-traditional opportunity affords the resident a diverse experience working with multiple departments within NCPA, including educating and supporting pharmacy owners through the Innovation Center, writing articles for America’s Pharmacist® magazine, and working on NCPA advocacy projects that advance the interests of independent pharmacies on Capitol Hill.

Applications for the 2027-2028 Executive Residency close Dec. 15. You can read more about the executive residency program here.
