NCPA September 8, 2026

Last Wednesday, the USC-NCPA Pharmacy Access Initiative team met with members and researchers from MedPAC to discuss ongoing work surrounding pharmacy access. The team shared valuable insights on Part D beneficiaries with MedPAC in a demonstration of its Pharmacy Shortage Areas Mapping Tool. MedPAC is an independent congressional agency that advises Congress on Medicare payment policies and provides analysis on beneficiaries' access to care, quality of care, and other issues affecting Medicare.

Last April, MedPAC presented research around pharmacy access for Part D beneficiaries and reports moving forward with more work in this area; read it here.

While the USC-NCPA Pharmacy Access Initiative’s work extends beyond Medicare, there are valuable insights pertaining to Part D beneficiaries that were shared with MedPAC in a demonstration of the Pharmacy Shortage Areas Mapping Tool.
