ACCESS to Pharmacy Care is a program allowing pharmacies to participate in the new CMS value-based care model where providers are paid to provide patient care services for Original Medicare patients with or at risk of certain conditions. The potential revenue boost is sizeable, but participation requires you to have a certain level of your patients on med sync, as it and the appointment-based model reduce the chaos in a busy pharmacy, improving your likelihood of success with ACCESS. If you’re not at the 30 percent level needed to enroll in ACCESS to Pharmacy Care, our NCPA/CPESN Med Sync Fellowship can help you qualify.
The fellowship is worth enrolling in by itself. Med sync streamlines your workflow, enhances predictability, improves patient engagement, and unlocks other value-based care opportunities. An effective med sync program adds an extra 20 profitable prescriptions per enrolled patient per year, equating to around $5,000 in added annual gross profit for every 20 of those patients. It's not just for pharmacists or owners, either — most successful med sync programs are led by pharmacy technicians, and they’re welcome to enroll as well.
On top of all that, it’ll qualify you to participate in the ACCESS to Pharmacy Care program even if you don’t yet meet the required number of patients on med sync (assuming you meet your attendance and homework completion goals.)
So, what’s ACCESS, and what’s ACCESS to Pharmacy Care? The Advancing Chronic Care with Effective, Scalable Solutions (ACCESS) Model is a new value-based care model from CMS that pays for measurable health outcomes for Medicare patients with chronic conditions. ACCESS to Pharmacy Care is an NCPA program powered by CPESN® USA in partnership with GamePlan Medical, a participant in the CMS initiative, that offers a clear, simple, and scalable pathway for pharmacies to participate in the CMS care model initiative.
