NCPA is hosting four workshops in the days leading up to our 2026 NCPA Annual Convention, Oct. 3-6, in Kansas City, Mo., that offer comprehensive looks into issues shaping the business and practice of pharmacy today. Today, we're covering two of them; one is focused on the need-to-knows of pharmacy ownership, and the other on real-world uses of AI technology.
Here are some details.
Pharmacy Ownership Workshop (Thursday, Oct. 1, and Friday, Oct. 2): This extensive review of everything that goes into owning a pharmacy, sponsored by McKesson and in part by First Financial Bank and Pharmacists Mutual Companies, brings together experts from across the industry to get into the nitty-gritty on the loan approval process, licensure agreements, creating a startup checklist, writing a business plan, designing an effective store layout and much more. The insights offered are useful for anyone thinking about starting or purchasing a pharmacy, as well as those looking to expand to own multiple stores.
The AI-Powered Pharmacy (Friday, Oct. 2): AI, AI, AI. You hear plenty of hype about its potential, including in pharmacy practice, but less about ways it's being used right now to save time, improve efficiency, and create capacity for higher-value patient care. In this workshop, your peers will share the AI tools they've put into practice as well as lessons they've learned along the way. Attendees will leave with an understanding of how AI fits into pharmacy operations, ideas for how to implement the tools in their own pharmacies and what to do next to get started.
Our other two pre-convention growth and profitability programs center around subsectors of long-term care; you can read more about those here.
To sign up for pre-convention courses, you must register through the convention registration process, even if you're not attending the full convention. Separate registration fees apply.
