The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is launching the GLP-1 Bridge program to expand access to GLP-1 medications for Medicare Part D beneficiaries. To help independent pharmacies understand the program and prepare for implementation, NCPA is hosting a special webinar today at 3 p.m. ET featuring CMS staff. They’ll discuss how the program will work, what to expect, and how prescriptions will be processed.
The Bridge program launches July 1, so it’s important to act now if you want to take advantage of this billable opportunity; our webinar is the perfect place to start. Attendees are encouraged to submit questions in advance during registration.
Whether you're looking to better understand program requirements, prepare your team for day-to-day operations, or ensure a smooth experience for patients seeking access to GLP-1s, this is your chance to hear directly from CMS experts.
CMS has also released educational materials for the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge. Through this short-term demonstration, CMS will expand access to certain GLP-1 medications to eligible Medicare Part D beneficiaries who do not currently have access to these medications through the Part D benefit.
CMS has published the following materials on CMS.gov:
- Prescriber Fact Sheet — Key information for prescribers referring patients to the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge
- Pharmacy Fact Sheet — Guidance for pharmacies on billing and dispensing under the demonstration
- Prior Authorization Form — Outline of clinical criteria for Medicare GLP-1 Bridge eligibility
Included are materials intended to support pharmacies as they prepare for the program's start date and include key details about the prior authorization and pharmacy claims processes. CMS stated that additional materials related to the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge will be made available in the coming weeks.
