This week, as part of NCPA's Month of Action initiative, NCPA member Greg Johansen hosted Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) for a visit to his Dunlap location, followed by a Q&A session in City Hall. When asked by a community member at the Q&A what his top priority was, Grassley replied, "PBM reform."
Additionally, NCPA member Jessi Stout, owner of Table Rock Pharmacy in Morganton, N.C., hosted Rep. Tim Moore (R-N.C.) for a visit. Stout voiced support for H.R. 4317, the PBM Reform Act. Moore indicated he would sign on as a cosponsor. You can view a Facebook reel of the visit shared by Stout here.
As you can see, these kinds of visits are one of the best ways to convey the necessity of PBM reform to members of Congress. Now's the best time to schedule one, as members of Congress will be away from Washington, D.C., through Sept. 2 and in their districts. If you're interested in hosting a legislator or their staff in your pharmacy, fill out this form.
We also need you to tell your members of Congress to support the PBM Reform Act (H.R. 4317), a bill that addresses PBM bad practices that increase costs and limit patient choice and access to medications, including Medicaid managed care payment reform and Medicare Part D contract reforms. Check here to see if your member of Congress has cosponsored the bill. If not, ask them to. If they have, make sure to thank them for their support.
