UnitedHealth Group has accused the creators of Modern Medical Mafia, a docuseries investigating how PBMs fleece the public and health care providers, of defamation and forced video streaming platforms to pull the show from their catalogs through threats of retaliation. Unfortunately for UHG, their attempts to stifle advocates have landed them in the pages of the New York Times.
The article documents many of their attempts to silence critics, including social media influencers and major newspapers, and the experiences of the filmmaker Mary Strause and her father Dan Strause, one of the people behind Patient Protector, the PBM reform advocacy group that producing the docuseries.
