Derek Jeter was born on this day in 1974, making him 50 years old. The accolades for him “began from the very first days of his big league career and continued virtually non-stop for 20 seasons,” the National Baseball Hall of Fame says. “But the legendary shortstop was ultimately judged by five championship rings and a Yankees dynasty he captained.” Jeter was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2020.
