Progress for pharmacies after Change Healthcare cyberattack

NCPA March 29, 2024

In a big step toward resuming normal claims processes after the February cyberattack on Change Healthcare, the company has announced that MedRx, the service some pharmacies use to format and submit claims for Part B vaccines, supplies and drugs, is back online for claims plus regulatory, compliance and coverage edits. Normally MedRx also has eligibility checks but those will be available soon. Due to the anticipated volume of backlogged claims it seems reasonable that there may be delays for the MACs processing and making payments, but report anything unusual to [email protected]. NCPA has heard from members that issues with Allwin remain and continues to press for updates on that as well.

Also noteworthy is the offer from Change Healthcare to expedite payments pharmacies are due for processing copay card/coupon and/or electronic vouchers. Approximately 5,500 pharmacies that previously received paper checks should have received an email earlier this week from “Change Healthcare/Optum via Adobe Acrobat Sign” encouraging them to authorize ACH payments. If you did not receive this email, or wish to proceed with caution, individual pharmacy questions can be sent to [email protected].
