Courtney and Will Quimby (pictured) were recently profiled in their local newspaper, Washington’s Nisqually Valley News, after attending NCPA’s annual Congressional Pharmacy Fly-In last month. The owners of Tim’s Gift Shop & Pharmacy converged on Capitol Hill with hundreds of other pharmacists around the country to make their case for PBM reform—and they had successful meetings with Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-WA), Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA-04), Rep. Derek Kilmer (D-WA-06), Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-WA-03), and Rep. Marilyn Strickland’s (D-WA-10) staff. It was a whirlwind couple of days for the Quimbys and they told Valley News reporter Dylan Reubenking they remain optimistic that PBM reform is in sight—buoyed by NCPA priority legislation, including the Drug Price Transparency in Medicaid Act, which would prohibit spread pricing in Medicaid-managed programs (among other things) and the Neighborhood Options for Patients Buying Medicines (NO PBM) Act, which the Senate Finance Committee recently passed.
