NCPA’s senior director of professional affairs, Lisa Schwartz, PharmD, participated in “The Big Picture from Pharmacy Trade Associations” at the Healthcare Distribution Alliance’s Traceability Seminar in Washington, D.C. Along with APhA and ASHP, Schwartz discussed pharmacy readiness for an interoperable, electronic tracing of prescription drugs at the package level and other operational issues for DSCSA compliance. The effective date for that requirement remains Nov. 27, 2023, although FDA announced last week that it will delay enforcement for one year to allow the supply chain to stabilize tracing data exchange and operations before beginning enforcement. NCPA members can refer to a readiness checklist.
