Watch: N.C. pharmacist Joe Moose to testify before House Ways & Means Committee today

NCPA May 16, 2023

Tune in at 2 p.m. ET today to see the testimony of Joe Moose at the House Committee on Ways and Means Health Subcommittee hearing on the topic of why anticompetitive and consolidated markets are making health care unaffordable. Moose, co-owner of Moose Pharmacy (with seven locations in North Carolina), will testify about the PBM stranglehold on health care, as well as on the ability of independent pharmacists to thrive as anchors for their communities. “Independent pharmacies have one mission and that is to serve patients, but they are at an inflection point with increased stress from egregious PBM practices, including pharmacy direct and indirect remuneration (DIR) fees,” says Moose, whose testimony is already published (and which you can read if you can’t watch it live), “and PBMs protect profits at the expense of competition and consumer welfare.” (Also offering testimony today is Oklahoma Insurance Department Commissioner Glen Mulready who excoriated CVS Caremark for “misinformation” and “lying” at an April press conference.)
