NCPA Launches Platform Connecting LTC Communities and Others With Independent Pharmacies Providing Vaccination Services

Complimentary VaxLink resource aims to simplify coordination, improve immunization access for vulnerable patients at their care sites

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (Nov. 4, 2026) – The National Community Pharmacists Association’s Innovation Center today announced the launch of VaxLink, a new digital exchange designed to connect independent pharmacies with long-term care, assisted living communities, and nursing homes that need on-site vaccination support. VaxLink’s complimentary online ZIP code search tool allows communities, caregivers, and patients to locate and connect with nearby pharmacy partners about vaccination access and offerings. VaxLink is sponsored by Pfizer.

“Independent community and LTC pharmacies are highly accessible, highly trusted health care providers for patients throughout their lifespans, and especially for those receiving more complex, ongoing care,” said NCPA CEO B. Douglas Hoey, pharmacist, MBA. “VaxLink offers a direct line to our members, enabling them to do what they do best: offer convenient, personal care, community support, and medication savings both to patients and in the communities where they are receiving care. We’re grateful to Pfizer for this partnership and the opportunity it creates for independent pharmacies to support LTC patients at their sites of care, and their loved ones.”

While a coordinated federal program brought on-site vaccination directly to LTC settings during the pandemic, the responsibility has now fallen to individual facilities, leaving them to coordinate immunizations one clinic at a time. NCPA and Pfizer see a widening gap in access for one of the country’s most vulnerable patient populations, and an opportunity for independent pharmacies to help close it. By linking independent pharmacies’ availability and capacity directly with the needs of LTC, assisted living, and nursing home partners, the VaxLink platform aims to turn a fragmented, hard-to-navigate process into a collaborative network. The goal is to make it simpler for pharmacies to reach the residents who need them most, and for LTC settings to secure reliable, local vaccination support.

Patient care communities can find more information and request vaccine services at www.vaxlink.org.

Additional pharmacies can submit their vaccine coordinator’s contact information for inclusion in VaxLink here.
