Frequently Asked Questions

NASPA Pharmacy-Based Point-of-Care Test & Treat Certificate program hosted by the NCPA Innovation Center

  • Does this program apply to my state?

This program does NOT meet Florida’s requirements for Test & Treat. If you are a Florida pharmacist, please refer to the NASPA/FPA Pharmacy-based Point-of-Care Test & Treat Certificate Program.

If you have questions about other states, be sure to check with state agencies (ie. Board of Pharmacy, state pharmacy association) for state-specific requirements for pharmacy-based point-of-care testing services. Some states require training, prescriber orders, protocols, and/or collaborative practice agreements.

  • I registered for the POCT Certificate Program, now what?

Once registered, you will get an email from [email protected] with detailed instructions on how to access the home study, the live training, and skills assessment. Please check your spam if you do not see an email with this information within 24 hours of registering.

  • How can I register my pharmacy staff for this training?

Please follow the registration link on the NCPA POCT webpage to access the registration form and follow the instructions included for registering your team members. If no link or form is available, registration has not yet opened for the next upcoming training.

  • I registered but I can no longer attend the live training, what are my options?

Cancellation is subject to a $125 cancellation fee and if you’re unable to make the live training date you will not be able to reschedule for a later date due to CE claiming deadlines. There may be exceptions depending on the situation, please email Kathy Doucette if you have questions about cancellations

  • Do I need to complete the home study before the live training?

Yes. There are 16 hours of pre-work that must be complete before the live training. Be sure to give yourself adequate time to complete this requirement.

  • How do I complete the home study?

Home study modules will be completed within Lecture Panda, the platform that NASPA utilizes to submit CE credits for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. The Home Study Modules and Cumulative Final Exam must be completed before the live/virtual training.

Once all credit requirements are complete, credit will be transmitted electronically to the ACPE and viewable in CPE Monitor within 24 hours.

If you have questions on claiming CE or need technical assistance using the Lecture Panda, please contact [email protected].

  • How do I complete the skills assessment?

You can expect to be assessed on the following techniques during your skills assessment:

    • Pulse (demonstrate technique on volunteer)

    • Blood pressure (automatic machine acceptable)

    • Nasal swab

    • Throat swab

Virtual program: Skills assessments will take place during the last hour of the live, virtual training. Please plan to have a volunteer and the necessary materials readily available during this time.

    Materials you will need:

    • Blood Pressure Cuff and Scope or Automatic Blood Pressure Cuff

    • Stopwatch or a clock with a second hand

    • Four 6-inch sterile cotton tipped wood applicators

    • Latex-free gloves

    • Hand Sanitizer

In-person program: Skills assessments will be part of the 4-hour training block and all necessary supplies needed will be provided.

  • How do I claim CE?

Lecture Panda is the platform that NASPA utilizes to submit CE credits for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Once the Skills Assessment is successfully complete, the instructor will provide you with a CE Redemption Code to complete the final course evaluation/survey in Lecture Panda and submit your CE credits.

Upon successful completion of all modules in the online learning platform, LecturePanda, and the input of your live session attendance code, an electronic PDF of your certificate will be automatically generated. Please be aware that you have 30 days from the date of completion of the live session to input your attendance code.
