Independent pharmacists from across South Carolina gathered in James Island, S.C. last week to meet with Rep. Jake Auchincloss (D-Mass.), the lead sponsor of the Pharmacists Fight Back Act (H.R. 6610). Hosted in partnership with the South Carolina Pharmacists Association, Pharmacists United for Truth and Transparency, and American Pharmacies, the event gave pharmacy owners a chance to share how PBM practices affect their businesses and patients, and to discuss what it will take to move the bill forward.
H.R. 6610 would reform how PBMs operate in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, with fair reimbursement for pharmacies, limits on steering patients to PBM-owned pharmacies, and penalties for noncompliance. The House Oversight Committee advanced it 40-2 in July. NCPA has endorsed the bill. Members can help get it to a floor vote by contacting their U.S. representative and asking them to co-sponsor.
