Day one of #NCPA2026 was packed with high-quality education sessions covering a variety of topics. Here are two standouts.
Attendees were hyped up for yesterday’s “How to Create Impactful and Engaging Short-Form Videos” education session. Speakers Ronda Williams and Carly Ennis, coming from United Pharmacy in Yukon, Okla., taught folks how to make social media content for pharmacies that drive business.
Two of their key takeaways:
- Make one person on your team responsible for social media and give them agency.
- Successful content grabs attention, is relatable to your audience, adds value to your pharmacy’s mission (a.k.a provides education to viewers), and gives the audience a reason or opportunity to reply.
They even had a live demonstration, creating a video with volunteers in 10 minutes. It’s already on social media!
Emlah Tubuo, owner of Powell Pharmacy in Powell, Ohio, walked attendees through effective team management practices in “How To Hire, Fire, and Promote Your Staff,” emphasizing that the culture of your pharmacy is shaped by your staff. When hiring, she said, it’s important to seek out people who can help your team improve on its weaknesses, pointing out that skills can be taught.
When discussing how to work with employees whose performance is sliding, she noted that avoiding difficult discussions can lead to your best employees adopting behaviors that harm the team culture, offering proper phrasing when improvement is needed from an employee and when the decision has been made to terminate them.
She also emphasized that recognizing your current employees and investing in those you see the potential in is an important part of maintaining your team culture.
