NCPA’s Month of Action resulted in meaningful pharmacy visits in August. Several members of key committees met with community pharmacists to talk about the profession’s priorities. On the House side, these included Rep. Erin Houchin (R-Ind.), a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee; members of the House Ways and Means Committee including Reps. Adrian Smith (R-Neb.), Gwen Moore (D-Wis.), and Claudia Tenney (R-N.Y.); and the chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.). On the Senate side, two members of the Senate Finance Committee participated in meetings — Sens. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) and Mark Warner (D-Va.).
Meetings such as these are key to keeping community pharmacy’s legislative agenda top-of-mind with legislators as they have several items they need to complete before the end of the year. Thank you to everyone who stepped up to make the case for NCPA policy priorities in person.
While the August in-district work period is now over, there are still upcoming opportunities to invite your legislators to your pharmacy for a face-to-face visit and effectively advocate for passage of our priorities before the end of the year. Another extended in-district work period is scheduled for Oct. 2-Nov. 8.
