Congratulations to NCPA members Whale Tail Pharmacy and Harry Race Pharmacy on being selected to receive funding through Alaska’s Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP)!
NCPA was proud to support Whale Tail Pharmacy’s application, which proposed innovative, pharmacy-led solutions to improve medication adherence, chronic disease management, preventive care, and access to health care in rural Alaska. Whale Tail serves Prince of Wales Island, a roadless island in Southeast Alaska with 5,000 residents and no hospital, as well as no home health or long-term care providers and limited physician access.
Harry Race Pharmacy’s funds will support the installation of an automated pharmacy dispensing system, to allow patients in Sitka, Alaska and surrounding islands to access their medications outside of the pharmacy’s operating hours. The awards are an exciting example of how independent community pharmacies can be meaningfully incorporated into state RHTP efforts to strengthen rural health care. Congratulations to Whale Tail Pharmacy and Harry Race Pharmacy on this well-deserved success!
