Senate Judiciary to discuss lowering drug costs through competition, transparency

NCPA July 31, 2026

Tune in Tuesday, Aug. 4 at 10:15 a.m. ET for a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on how competition and transparency can lower prescription drug costs. This is the same committee that raked PBMs across the coals in a hearing last year over their efforts to ensure markets are both uncompetitive and opaque, so we’ll be listening closely to how the discourse plays out this time.

Watch the hearing here.

Many of NCPA’s policy priorities are centered on ensuring independent pharmacies can compete fairly in transparent markets, including PBM reforms across several federal and state programs, compounding rules, adequate reimbursement for clinical services, and others.
