On Wednesday morning, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform held a markup of 15 bills, including NCPA policy priority H.R. 6610, the “Pharmacists Fight Back [In Federal Employees Health Benefits Program] Act.” The legislation passed by a vote of 40–2, with bill lead and committee chairman Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) speaking in support. He was joined by Reps. James Walkinshaw (D-Va.), Gary Palmer (R-Ala.), Stephen Lynch (D-Mass.), and Scott Perry (R-Pa.), who all spoke in support of this legislation and the positive step it takes to rein in medical spending and protect patient access to pharmacies.
The only member who spoke in opposition was Rep. Eric Burlison (R-Mo.). We look forward to seeing the sister bill, H.R. 6609, move forward in the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. NCPA will continue to work with Congress as these bills make their way through the legislative process.
