Remembering Calvin Anthony

NCPA July 13, 2026

We are sad to share that Calvin J. Anthony, who served as NCPA president from 1993-1994 and as CEO from 1996-2001, passed away on July 7. Kind, hard-working, and effective, Calvin owned several pharmacies in Oklahoma and wore many other hats, including, at one point, serving as mayor of the city of Stillwater, and as a member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives and the Board of Regents of Oklahoma State University. He is survived by his wife Linda and their three children.

Raised in Carney, Okla., Calvin attended Oklahoma State University before graduating from the University of Oklahoma School of Pharmacy with honors. He owned Tiger Drug Company in Stillwater for 47 years and expanded it to the surrounding communities of Perkins, Yale and Perry. He and Linda also operated and owned a medical supply company. For his outstanding lifetime achievement in society and professional life, Calvin was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame and OSU’s Hall of Fame in 2024. You can read more about him in his obituary here.

We will honor his legacy at NCPA’s 2026 Annual Convention in October, during which we will again present the Calvin J. Anthony Lifetime Achievement Award. Since 2008, this award has regularly been given out in Calvin’s name to a deserving pharmacist for their contributions to the pharmacy profession in the spirit of collaboration and diplomacy.
