NCPA is proud to be a founding member of the Main Street Competition Coalition (MSCC), a first-of-its-kind advocacy organization uniting independent businesses to combat market power abuses that are squeezing out Main Street. MSCC is building a nationwide network of independent businesses and trade associations dedicated to preserving a level playing field, expanding economic opportunity, and ensuring competitive markets work for Main Street. What’s more, NCPA members can join this grassroots effort at no cost.
It’s been less than two months since the MSCC launched, and it’s off to a great start. We've already passed legislation through the House, the Main Street Competes Act (H.R. 8882), to update the Small Business Administration's economic mission and protect independent businesses against market power abuses. And this week, the MSCC filed an amicus brief in a Third Circuit case discussing how forced arbitration by firms with market power like PBMs circumvents the rights of independent businesses to enforce their antitrust rights in court.
