In the weeks since the wildly successful NCPA Congressional Pharmacy Fly-In, there has been additional movement on NCPA priority legislation, including two bills recently passed out of committee. The House Ways and Means Committee advanced H.R. 3164, the “Main Street Pharmacy Access Act” (formerly ECAPS), to allow pharmacists to bill Medicare for certain immunizations, while the House Education and Workforce Committee passed H.R. 7895, the “PBM Kickback Prohibition Act,” out of committee by a unanimous vote!
Help keep the momentum going by inviting your legislator to visit your pharmacy during one of several upcoming in-district work periods. Those are expected to be June 12-22; July 3-12; and July 24-August 30. (Stay tuned for more information on NCPA’s Month of Action during this extended in-district work period.)
Visits to pharmacies help your congressional representatives and their key staff members better understand the services you provide to your patients, the challenges you face, and the need for additional PBM reforms. Remember, it’s an election year, and members of Congress will be looking for opportunities to get out and meet voters. An event at your pharmacy is the perfect photo-op, so take advantage of it.
