The Office of Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha intervened to enforce audit protections per new authorities granted to his office by 2025 legislation, HB 5248A. Although Prime has not admitted to violations, the consent order documents how Prime failed to provide the required 14 days' written notice ahead of the audits, asked for records beyond the two-year period statutorily allowed, and did not provide the range of prescription numbers that would be inspected, nor an opportunity to reschedule the in-person visit. Although no penalties were assessed, Prime was ordered to cease the auditing that resulted in pharmacies complaining to the attorney general.
