New York pharmacists celebrate new law allowing pharmacy technicians to compound in New York

NCPA December 1, 2025

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) signed SB 3236 into law, which allows pharmacy technicians within the state to practice in any pharmacy under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, to assist in compounding, preparing, labeling, or dispensing of drugs. We applaud the efforts of the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) and are proud to have submitted a letter in favor of the bill during the committee process. NCPA is pleased to see community pharmacy expanded through empowering pharmacists and their technicians.
