Filling the care gap from the Rite Aid bankruptcy

NCPA May 7, 2025

Rite Aid is filing for bankruptcy ... again. Jobs will be cut and patients will lose access to their prescriptions, though the company has said it will work to facilitate the "smooth transfer" of prescriptions to other pharmacies and aims to keep its 1,240 stores open. Community pharmacies can help fill this gap to ensure patients get the care they need and deserve. To make that easier, NCPA members can access our "Opportunity Toolkit," which provides information and pre-made resources to effectively market your services to current and potential patients when stores close. Of course, these days, pharmacies will want to be discerning about the mix of prescriptions they add to their business.
