A study published in the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association found that Pharmacy Technician Certification Board pharmacy certifications are of value to both the pharmacy technician and the pharmacy owner, both in terms of service quality and the ability to offer more advanced services.
The researchers surveyed 23,000 certified pharmacy technicians to probe how PTCB certification affects career advancement and professional growth for pharmacy technicians. Respondents agreed that certification benefited their career and personal growth, while also positively influencing patient care services. The technicians also agreed that the certification allowed pharmacists to expand their services where they practiced, including clinical services, patient education, and preventive health services.
