Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance (R) has been officially announced as Former President Donald Trump's vice presidential pick in the November elections; Trump made the announcement Monday afternoon on his "Truth Social" platform. Vance's record on health care is mostly focused on opioid usage and the after-effects of the February 2023 East Palestine train derailment, however he did vote in favor of S. 127, the "Pharmacy Benefit Manager Transparency Act," in a March 2023 markup in the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation. In that vote, Vance joined fellow Republican Sens. Deb Fischer (Neb.), Jerry Moran (Kan.), Dan Sullivan (Alaska), and Shelley Moore Capito (W. Va.) in supporting the bill. In addition to the Commerce Committee, Vance sits on the Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs and the Special Committee on Aging.
