Pharmacy orgs ask HHS to protect pharmacies from cyber-attacks

NCPA May 9, 2024

NCPA joined the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, American College of Clinical Pharmacy, American Society of Consultant Pharmacists, American Pharmacists Association and National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations in a letter calling for HHS to protect pharmacies in the wake of the Change Healthcare cyber-attack in February. Specifically, the letter called for HHS to establish HHS crisis communications plans for future attacks. It also asks HHS to direct plans and PBMs to pause audits and make pharmacies whole for good faith dispensing, as well as prevent punitive payer actions. Finally, the letter asks HHS to address longer term impacts from this attack and to understand the full arc of impact for future attacks.
