The Congressional Budget Office recently released responses to a series of health policy questions that had been posed by members of Congress in hearings earlier this year. CBO responded to Rep. Buddy Carter (R-Georgia) that the Lower Costs, More Transparency Act, which passed out of the House of Representatives last December, would reduce federal spending by $1.1 billion between 2024 and 2033 due to the elimination of spread pricing in Medicaid Managed Care programs and the implementation of a national survey of acquisition costs for drugs in which all retail pharmacies would participate in. This hard data only highlights that PBM reform would help lower the cost of health care in this country and is more reason that Congress should finish the fight this year.
