NCPA, in collaboration with the Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists and OmniSYS, have announced that 30 additional community pharmacies have been selected to receive training and financial support to become CDC-recognized National Diabetes Prevention Program providers. This is the second cohort of pharmacies to be mentored by NCPA through the program. The first group, consisting of 18 pharmacies, launched classes in September 2020. The National DPP is a nationwide effort that creates partnerships between public and private organizations to offer evidence-based, cost-effective interventions to prevent or delay Type 2 diabetes. NCPA will provide for the pharmacies CDC-approved lifestyle coach training via ADCES to select pharmacy staff who will deliver the National DPP lifestyle change program, as well as access to an OmniSYS platform that will facilitate intervention, documentation, and education. NCPA will also hold monthly webinars with updates and guidance for the pharmacies. Congratulation to the pharmacies chosen for the program. You’ll find a full list here.
