NCPA submitted comments to the Internal Revenue Service, Employee Benefits Security Administration, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services regarding a proposed rule that, among other things, would require group health plans and health insurance issuers to cover OTC contraceptive items without the requirement for a prescription and without imposing cost-sharing requirements.
NCPA advocated for fair and reasonable reimbursement for these products that would cover the cost of the product as well as cost of dispensing. NCPA also emphasized the importance of adopting a standardized approach to claims processing to ease administrative burden to the pharmacy. To read NCPA’s full comments, click here.
