The House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee has named new members for the Committee on Energy and Commerce: Reps. Jake Auchincloss (D-Mass.), Troy Carter (D-La.), Greg Landsman (D-Ohio), Jennifer McClellan (D-Va.), Kevin Mullin (D-Calif.), and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.). Auchincloss in particular is a major pharmacy champion and his membership of the committee (alongside the new committee chair, Rep. Brett Guthrie (R-Ky.), and Health Subcommittee Chair Buddy Carter (R-Ga.)) is a victory for independent pharmacy.

The Republican Steering Committee had previously named new Republican members to fill vacant slots on Energy and Commerce: Reps. Russell Fry (R-S.C.), Nick Langworthy (R-N.Y.), Erin Houchin (R-Ind.), Cliff Bentz (R-Ore.), Laurel Lee (R-Fla.), Craig Goldman (R-Texas), Tom Kean (R-N.J.), Julie Fedorchak (R-N.D.), Gabe Evans (R-Colo.), and Mike Rulli (R-Ohio).

There are also seven new additions to the Committee on Ways and Means: Reps. Aaron Bean (R-Fla.), Max Miller (R-Ohio), Nathaniel Moran (R-Texas), Rudy Yakym (R-Ind.), Brendan Boyle (D-Pa.), Tom Suozzi (D-N.Y.), and Del. Stacy Plaskett (D-V.I.). Assignments to the health subcommittees of Energy and Commerce as well as Ways and Means have not yet been announced.

On the other side of Capitol Hill, the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee and the Committee on Finance have both named new members on both sides of the aisle. HELP's new members will be Sens. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), Jim Banks (R-Ind.), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Andy Kim (D-N.J.), Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.), and Angela Alsobrooks (D-Md.). Senate Finance's new members are Sens. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.), Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Tina Smith (D-Minn.), Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.), Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.), and Peter Welch (D-Vt.).
