Chip and Mandy Whitaker, who were featured as the cover story in the September 2024 issue of America’s Pharmacist® after opening three independent pharmacies in underserved areas in Alabama, have taken ownership of a fourth, Family Medicine Pharmacy & Gifts in Thomasville, Ala. The pharmacy was opened in 1984 by Mark Wise, who owned it with his wife Angie. When Mark decided to retire, the Whitakers were glad to step in to keep the business operating. They plan to keep the pharmacy running just as Mark and Angie did, for a seamless transition.
“We are very honored for the opportunity to continue to make Family Medicine Pharmacy & Gifts the best family-owned and operated independent pharmacy in Thomasville and the surrounding areas,” said Chip.
Noting that his mother Carolyn once worked as a pharmacist for Mark Chip said, “This is family at its core for us. We are thankful and we look forward to carrying on the tradition that Mark and Angie and their family started many years ago.”
