Yesterday, Rep. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.) was joined by 14 bipartisan members of Congress from both chambers, as well as over a dozen patients, caregivers, and independent pharmacists in a press conference calling out the harms caused by PBM market manipulations and calling for the passage of PBM reform. NCPA was proud to have present NCPA members and pharmacists John Nicholson from Mahaska Drug in Iowa and Robert Annicharico from Delco Drugs in New York.
Carter opened and closed the event with some remarks. The other speakers, in order, were: Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) and Reps. Nanette Barragán (D-Calif.), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Iowa), Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Ill.), Nicole Malliotakis (R-N.Y.), Debbie Dingell (D-Mich.), Mike Flood (R-Neb.), Jake Auchincloss (D-Mass.), Greg Murphy (R-N.C.), Juan Ciscomani (D-Ariz.), Nick Langworthy (D-N.Y.), Scott Peters (D-Calif.), Rick Allen (R-Ga.), and Greg Landsman (D-Ohio).
Currently, there is a letter circulating in the House of Representatives with nearly 100 members who have signed on to request that their leadership include PBM reform in an end of the year package. Lankford said at the event he would circulate a similar letter in the Senate in a push to get meaningful PBM reform across the finish line.
