As a second-generation pharmacist, NCPA member Stephanie Mrozek knows that future success in independent community pharmacy requires a tailored approach to community needs.
Her first job after pharmacy school was managing a new location brought into the family business in 2013. She said that ended up being a pivotal moment because it clarified how to broaden the set of patients served in a location. That made it easier for locations to start surviving on more than filling prescriptions.
“All our community locations are combo-shops. We do our best to put a non-traditional pharmacy service in each of our community locations, including assisted living facilities, mental health and addiction services, hospice, adherence packaging, home delivery, and vaccinations,” she says.
