NCPA and seven other pharmacy trade associations signed a letter last week requesting that the Food and Drug Administration take additional action to ensure dispensers can comply with the requirements of the Drug Supply Chain and Security Act.
Specifically, the organizations called for the FDA to implement a phased enforcement approach by providing a blanket waiver, exception, or exemption for dispensers until manufacturer-level trading partners can provide all necessary EPCIS data to downstream trading partners. Further, the organizations asked that FDA clearly state that any WEEs granted to upstream trading partners are also applicable to downstream trading partners. Read the letter here.
