NCPA submits comments to FDA criticizing the Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee

NCPA August 14, 2024

NCPA submitted comments to FDA criticizing the processes of the Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee (PCAC), namely the timelines to prepare and the condensed time to speak at its most recent June 2022 and November 2017 meetings. To remedy our concerns, NCPA recommended that: 1) nominators have at least three calendar weeks from the release of the FDA packet to the due date for nominating speakers; 2) nominators have at least two calendar weeks from the due date for nominating speakers to the due date for submitting slides, and 3) nominators may participate in the PCAC meetings either remotely or in person. These comments followed NCPA’s attendance at FDA’s listening session in June on advisory committees, where NCPA member A.J. Day discussed these same concerns.
