NCPA Baltimore-area members host CMS in stores

NCPA May 10, 2024

On Thursday, CMS staff responsible for implementing the Inflation Reduction Act visited NCPA member and CARE and EPIC Pharmacies in and around Baltimore to discuss Medicare Part D pharmacy payment and concerns about the unsustainability of drug reimbursements that are subject to price negotiations between CMS and manufacturers under the law. NCPA members walked CMS staff through their workflow, including processing prescriptions and medication synchronization. Visits happened at Ali Thakkar's Laurel Main Street Pharmacy in Laurel, Md., Christine Lee Wilson’s Professional Pharmacy in Rosedale, Md., Raj Pingili's Lifeline Specialty Pharmacy in Ellicott City, Md., and Steve Wienner's Mt. Vernon Pharmacy in Baltimore, Md. NCPA worked with CARE Pharmacies and EPIC pharmacies to coordinate these visits, and both groups and NCPA are happy to serve as resources to CMS.
