The Drug Supply Chain Security Act is a big deal, requiring pharmacies to have formal processes to evaluate their prescription drug wholesalers, inspect orders, and maintain transaction tracing data. Your pharmacy team needs to know who is responsible for each and the day-to-day tasks to ensure compliance. They also need to have a plan should problems arise. Enforcement could come from the FDA, the board of pharmacy, or even payers. (The final compliance deadline is Nov. 27, 2023, but FDA is giving the supply chain an extra year to stabilize data exchange and operations.)
