One year ago today, the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II was held at Westminster Abbey, after which she was interred at Windsor Castle beneath the King George VI Memorial Chapel. She assumed the patronage of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society upon the death of her father in 1952 and, visiting its headquarters in 1993 with Prince Philip, was presented with a honey jar in honor (sorry, honour) of her ongoing support of the UK’s approximately 69,000 pharmacists. As it happens, Queen Elizabeth was an ardent champion of bees and, today, Buckingham Palace remains home to four beehives, as do other royal properties throughout England.
